MORINDA MLM Review

Many home based opportunities are flooding the internet and MLM opportunities are no exception. In this Morinda MLM Review I bring you the details and reveal the inner workings of this make money opportunity and give you my thoughts on whether or not it is something worth pursuing. So let’s get cracking!Morinda MLM Review - logo

So What is Morinda?

Morinda is an MLM company that was formed in September 2003 and the business is located in American Fork, in Utah USA. It is also known as Tahitian Noni International Inc and Tropical Resources Inc and TNI and Kerry O. Asay is the current President and CEO.

What does Morinda Promote?

Morinda has a product line related to health and wellbeing. Its Mission Statement is ‘To bless the whole earth with the natural goodness of Tahitian Noni as we Tell the Story of lives transformed’. So, Tahitian Noni is the base product from which most of their product range derive.

Noni is the fruit of the Morinda citrifolia tree and is indigenous to Southeast Asia and Australasia. Noni juice has been in several cases, promoted illegally as a cure for human illness and a number of diseases. There is however, no legal evidence to support any of these claims and Morinda has suffered from this controversy as a result but more about this soon.

The products cover wellness and nutrition, beauty, performance and energy, mental and physical relief and weight loss.

Are Morinda Products worth their Price?

Morinda MLM Review - Noni box

The products are pricey for what they are. A 1 litre bottle of Noni Juice is sold on the Morinda website for $40. A 30g Night Cream is priced at $100. There are so many top line competitors that make this price point a little hard to swallow.

What was Morinda Accused of?

Controversially, Morinda was charged with making “unsubstantiated claims” in consumer testimonials and other promotional material.  A multi-state settlement resulted between Morinda and the Attorneys General of Arizona, California, New Jersey, and Texas.

Morinda also agreed to stop making claims that the product can prevent, treat or cure any disease until substantiated by reliable scientific evidence. I have found no evidence in my research so far, to suggest that these claims have been substantiated.

Morinda was also called to pay $100,000 for investigative costs and to refund the full purchase price to any consumer who presented a written refund request.

Cause for alarm also arose when my research uncovered articles related to the suggestion that some individuals are particularly sensitive to hepatotoxic effects of noni fruit products after an increasing number of case reports. Hepatotoxic is related to the damage to liver cells. Noni products have also been related to kidney problems.

Are Morinda Products Exclusive?

A quick search in Amazon reveals that Morinda products are also sold there and therefore are not exclusively sold through Morinda sales representatives. You can also see the price difference for the same product which in this case is for four 1 litre bottles of Tahitian Noni. The Morinda price is shown in the first screen shot that follows which is $215. The second screen shot shows the same 4 bottles being sold on Amazon for $128, or for $87 less than the Morinda website price.

What is the Morinda Opportunity?

Noni by NewAge 90-Day Business Challenge is offered to those looking for an opportunity to build an MLM business with Morinda. Basically, you pick one of the 90-Day Challenge Packs which contain the building tools. You are asked to follow the system step by step to build your business and earn income. You also decide what kind of business from several different product lines.

How Much Does it Cost to Join Morinda?

The business packs are priced between $299 to $365. Although, there was only one pack available on the sign-up page. However, expect to pay related operational business costs may include, phone/s, travel, stationary, maybe even rent/lease, storage, accounting, tax services etc. This will depend on your own circumstances.

Each month you also must pay $120 + shipping to fulfill your personal volume purchases. This equates to you paying $120 in order to receive monthly commission. Ah see this is yet another reason why I’m not into MLMs!

Can you Make Money with Morinda?

Making money with Morinda includes the commission earned from selling products to retail customers. Monthly commissions are earned depending on your ability to recruit and support people to build a Morinda Business and building a distributor network. The bigger the network the more monthly commission earned. Typical of MLM or Network Marketing Companies, emphasis is placed more on building a network than it is on selling products to retail customers.

Pros of Morinda MLMMorinda MLM Review - CBD Products

  • Quick to get started – the process is relatively straight forward.
  • Apply online – again fairly straight forward.
  • Diverse range of product – a wide selection of products to choose from.

Cons of Morinda MLM

  • Controversial health related findings – it is not recommended for conditions such as liver and kidney disease.
  • Costly to get started – not affordable for some especially when you add related travel and operational costs.
  • False claims about products – lawsuits and settlements have resulted.
  • Requires selling skills – not everybody has selling skills and therefore training is recommended.
  • Requires recruiting and cold calling –
  • Must qualify to earn monthly commission – this is required at each level and not gauranteed.
  • Over hyped – a lot of hype about the lifestyle one can achieve but few achieve this kind of level.
  • Cult like – people can be made to feel as though they must be a ‘devotee’ to the company and it’s cause like many MLM events.

Is Morinda MLM a Scam?

You might conclude that Morinda acted in a scam like way when making claims that Noni is a cure for disease, and therefore must be a scam. However, it’s a business that continues today and clearly is working for some people. For this reason I would say that Morinda is not a scam but a company that is cautious about what it claims.

Final Thoughts

The MLM model while being around for a long time is not for everyone. The fees, the ideas that products are secondary to the recruiting, the qualifying, the network building and on and on it goes, I feel is outdated and past it’s use by date. Nowadays, there are far more exciting and better all round Make Money business opportunities like Affiliate Marketing!

What’s Better than Morinda MLM?

Well I have already said it previously in the last paragraph. It’s Affiliate Marketing! Why? Well, take a look at the comparison that follows between the Morinda MLM offering and the offering of a World Class leader in the world of affiliate marketing, Wealthy Affiliate and see what I mean!

  1. Rina, thank you for your article

I had seen this product advertised and was curious, so when I saw your article, I was surprised to find it had been known to cause some kidney problems. I don’t think I would be comfortable with this if I was a distributor. But thank you for mentioning this in your review. But I’ll pass on this one.

I also appreciate your views on Affiliate marketing. With no inventory to worry about, this sounds easier to work with because you leave the ordering and delivery to others? And there’s no recruititng? Wow! Are you an affiliate marketer and if so, how long have you been doing this?  Thanks, Sami

    • Hiya Sam!

Great to have your comments and questions. I guess you can say that a web-based affiliate marketer is someone who promotes other peoples product and therefore it’s a ‘hands off’ approach to online business. You’re not directly dealing with customers, deliveries or even returns and refunds! This is all handled by the merchant. All you are doing is promoting products on the merchants behalf on your own website. Sales are tracked from a link on your website when a customers clicks through to purchase the product.

I have been an online marketer since 2016. I knew nothing when starting out but started with Wealthy Affiliate who have taught me everything and I continue to learn on the WA platform. Unlike MLM, affiliate marketing is totally web-based and you can promote and sell any product in the world that you want!

      Have a great day Sam!

  2. I’m always a bit wary of MLMs. Most people don’t, in fact, make much money, it’s usually only the people on the top who do well. Especially the Morinda one which is really pricey, if you’re rich enough to afford it you’re rich enough to set up a more profitable business. Do you know of anyone who became rich from it?

    • Hiya Hollie!

Thank you for your comments and question. You hit the nail on the head aobut only those at the top who get rich in multi-level-marketing. I know people who worked hard tryinig to build their network trying to recruit all of their friends, family. They travelled extensively, even overseas to try and make their business work but gave up when the dollard just weren’t adding up. Bottom line, they were spending more than they made. Sad, but this is what I saw happening around me.

  3. Hello, Thank you for this post, I heard of morinda from a friend so decided to do some reasearch about it, though it has some advantages on personal health, but some of the negatives you pointed out with the products is worth taking into consideration, because I wouldn’t want to compromise anybody’s health. Thank you also for recommending Affiliate Marketting as an alternative, I am very interested in that, so I will check it out via the link provided in your post. Could you tell me though, about how many hours would I need to dedicate to affiliate marketiing?

    • Hiya Jomata!

Great to have your comments and question. In regards to how many hours you would need to dedicate to affiliate marketing I suggest you do at least 2 hours a day assuming you have all the tools, good training if you need it and support from experts.

It can be a real challenge to do on your own so wouldn’t recommend you go this route and you would soon clock up more hours than is necessary. So! Go with a managed hosting service, who can show you everything about building out a profitable web-based affiliate business, an there is just one I highly recommend and that is Wealthy Affiliate.
